Tensor threads, also known as magic threads, are made of polydioxanone (PDO).<\/strong> Polydioxanone is a fully biocompatible material<\/strong> that is absorbable<\/b> by the body and has been used in cardiac sutures for more than 30 years.<\/p>

The threads are inserted into the dermis and activate the fibroblasts capable of generating collagen.<\/strong> This reaction improves the skin’s quality, regenerating and tightening the areas in which they are applied. They are used to create tension in areas where the skin is sagging, achieving a lifting effect and reducing flaccidity.<\/strong> They are also used to prevent or treat the first signs of flaccidity.<\/p>

The threads are reabsorbed in six months, but the effect lasts between 12 and 18 months, depending on skin type, age, the patient’s response to the treatment, etc.<\/p>

The effects will become visible after two weeks, reaching optimal results three months later.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

There are different types of threads based on their thickness, length and morphology. We use one or the other according to the patient’s characteristics. Broadly speaking, we work with two types of threads: monofilament and tensor threads.<\/strong> We use the former to redensify the skin, improving its quality; and the latter to pull the skin when the degree of sagging is higher, obtaining a smooth and natural lifting effect. <\/p>

The number and type of tensor threads is decided after assessing the patient’s case.<\/strong> You cannot treat sagging in the same way as a double chin or as expression lines in the periocular area. In sagging skin we use tensor threads, whereas in expression lines a monofilament thread will suffice. Sometimes, we will require a combination of both. <\/p>

The threads are injected under the skin using a very fine needle or cannula. <\/strong>The treatment takes around 45 minutes, and once completed, the patient can return immediately to their habitual routine.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>
